Last week I wrote about the latest hat trends for women in my article, “Calling All Hat Fashionistas.” Now it is the men’s turn. For men the fedora, trilby, pork pie, flat cap, bucket hat and panama hats are all popular.

Although hat trends are ever-changing, the fedora remains a truly timeless classic. In his article, “Men’s Top Fashion & Style Trends – Hats & Caps,” Nicholas Morine writes, “[T]he most recent decade has been very kind to the fedora hat, now worn by youth, young men, and mature gents as well.” Trilby hats are also becoming very popular. They are similar to the fedora, but have a narrower brim. Today these hats can be worn with formal or very casual attire. If you are looking for a different hat to dress up an outfit, try a pork pie hat. A pork pie hat has a short crown and an indentation all the way around, instead of the fedora’s or tribly’s pinched crown.

The fedora’s and trilby’s very casual cousin is the panama hat.  Originating from Ecuador, and made out of light colored, light weight, breathable materials, the Panama hat is the perfect for accessory for spring and summer. Another very casual hat is the bucket hat. These hats are perfect for spring and summer because they have a wide and downwards sloping brim that can protect your face from harmful UV rays.

The flat cap is another hot look this season. Many people know these caps as newsboy caps. They are highly versatile and look great with casual or semi-casual clothes. All of these hats come in a variety of fabrics, patterns and colors. Consequently, there is sure to be one that matches your personal style.
